Baseball Love, O Where Have You Been???

For the longest, I've been a huge baseball fan. When I was a little guy growing up, I truly loved watching the local Double A team. Even though I tried to play, I was quite terrible. Yes, I was quick and fast once on base, but the problem was getting on base... LOL!!! Nonetheless, the love for the game never went away... it just laid dormant as life went on.

Then, enter last week...

As I often do, I check my ESPN app to get the latest sports news and guess what caught my eye... it was an article on how awful the Colorado Rockies are this year. That's when my baseball love came roaring back ALIVE!!! Immediately, I began researching and studying EVERYTHING about the Rockies. Geez, I even went as far as getting refreshed on my sabermetrics at the Society for American Baseball Research. Hoping to join the local chapter soon.

I've been back 'knee deep' in the game for about a week now. It's GREAT!!! I was fortunate to watch... well, gamecast on my ESPN app the games. Other than the late starts since they're on Mountain West time and I'm on Eastern Standard time, I've had an absolute blast following them.

What's the point? Well, for me at least, it's rather relaxing yet at the same time mentally stimulating especially with the stats and how the game is played, managed, and strategized. I'd also say that now in my older age, I have a greater appreciation for the game as well.

For blog purposes, it'll give me something to talk about that's not business focused. That's not a bad thing to me... if anything, I guess it shows that I do have a few interests (I like to cook, run and do CrossFit too... who knows, I may even start talking about these too) that aren't business focused.
